4. harem A picture of an object that represents a word, syllable, or sound that is often found in ancient Egyptian writings.
5. papyrus The fourth letter of the Greek alphabet, a triangular shape, the fourth in a series
6. ecclesiastic A place or area that is considered holy because it is associated with divinity, relic, or sacred person.
7. embalm A special symbol in Egypt that resembles a cross with a loop at the top
8. archeologist A minister, priest, or cleric; a religious person in charge
9. hieroglyphs A small piece of jewelry or an ornament that is thought to offer protection against disease, danger, and evil
10. sphinx A branch of anthropologic science that studies people, objects, and animals from prehistoric times
11. amulet Preservation of a corpse from decay, usually with spices and perfume
12. dynasty An ancient Egyptian stone that has the body of a lion, a human head or an animal head. There is one large Sphinx statue.
13. delta The study of the culture and artifacts of ancient Egypt
14. shrine A material from ancient Egypt that is made from the stem of a water plant and turned into sheets. The sheets were then used for writing or painting.
