American Civil War (Nội chiến Hoa Kỳ) là gì?
American Civil War – Nội chiến Hoa Kỳ là một cuộc nội chiến ở Hoa Kỳ từ năm 1861 đến năm 1865, cuộc chiến giữa các bang miền bắc trung thành với Liên minh và các bang miền nam đã ly khai của nước Mỹ để thành lập Liên bang Hoa Kỳ. Nguyên nhân chính của cuộc chiến là liệu có xóa bỏ chế độ nô lệ ở các bang miền Nam nước Mỹ lúc bấy giờ hay không.
Cuộc chiến kết thúc vào ngày 9 tháng 4 năm 1865, khi Tướng Liên minh Robert E. Lee đầu hàng Tướng Liên minh Ulysses S. Grant trong trận Appomattox Court House. Các tướng lĩnh của quân miền Nam ở khắp các bang miền Nam đã làm theo, cuộc đầu hàng cuối cùng trên bộ xảy ra vào ngày 23 tháng 6. Chế độ nô lệ bị bãi bỏ, và bốn triệu người da đen làm nô lệ được trả tự do. Nước Mỹ bị chiến tranh tàn phá bước vào thời kỳ Tái thiết trong nỗ lực xây dựng lại đất nước và trao quyền công dân cho những nô lệ được giải phóng.
