Bắt đầu từ thế kỷ thứ 8 trước Công nguyên, Ancient Rome – La Mã cổ đại đã phát triển từ một thị trấn nhỏ trên sông Tiber miền trung nước Ý thành một đế chế mà đỉnh cao bao gồm hầu hết lục địa Châu Âu, Anh, phần lớn Tây Á, Bắc Phi và các đảo Địa Trung Hải.
